Canada is a very popular destination. Immigrants and visitors alike are welcomed with its natural beauty, and high quality of life; one of the best in the world. Each year, Canada welcomes many immigrants and visitors such as tourist, business travels and foreign workers. Medical insurance is highly encouraged for all.

The right medical insurance plan is important as medical assistance can be very expensive in an unlikely event of a medical emergency or other unfortunate circumstances. Immigrants and visitors need to know which province they will be spending the majority of their time in during their trip. This allows for the purchase of the right travel insurance cover.

At Chahal Insurance’s Super Visa Insurance, whether you are planning to make Canada your new home, just visiting or applying for a Super Visa, we are here to help in the event when an emergency medical need arises.

Our simple online application form allows you to choose the coverage which suits your needs.

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Select the deductible*; $0, $100, $500 or $1,000
  1. Choose the amount of coverage; $25,000, $50,000, $100,000 or $150,000
  1. Choose the coverage length.
  1. For those below the age of 55, no medical questions will be asked

Deductible for the medical insurance*

The deductible amount is the amount of expenses that you must pay (deduct from the bill) before the insurance company pays for the expenses. You will be paying a lower premium if your deductible fee is higher.

 Example:

If you choose a $100 deductible for your medical insurance, you will be required to pay the first $100, the rest will then be covered by the insurance company.

Waiting Periods

  1. There is no waiting period if:
  • Your coverage starts before arrival in Canada
  • If you apply to continue coverage on a GMS existing policy
  • If you apply to continue coverage on an existing policy providing similar coverage issued by an insurance company licensed in Canada.
  1. If you apply within 30 days of your arrival in Canada, there is 2 days/ 48 hours waiting period for all emergency medical conditions except resulting in injury.
  1. There is 7 day/168 hours waiting period for all emergency medical conditions including injuries if you apply after 30 days of your arrival in Canada.

Travelling outside Canada

Some visitors make side trips outside of Canada. Medical Insurance coverage for side trips of up to 30 days each is included with your Canadian medical emergency plans.

Some restrictions apply though:

  1. Your trip must originate in Canada
  2. Your trip must terminate in Canada
  3. The total days outside Canada cannot be 50% of your coverage period
  4. The side trip cannot be back to your country of origin
